12,000 athletes here at CVRAA opening

12,000 COMPETE FOR TINUES TO REPORT IN HIS OF- TOP CVRAA HONORS. Beginning today, some 12, 000 athletes from 19 schools divisions in Region 7 will compete in various sports disciplines of the week-long Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association compete in various venues across Dumaguete City. Mayor Remollo leads the opening ceremony today with optimism that the city’s athletes will retain or surpass its 4th place ranking last year’s edition held in Tagbilaran City.

Close to 12,000 of the best athletes in the re-gion from 19 schools divisions will compete in the 2019 Central Visayas Regional Athletics Association Meet in various venues across the city starting today until Friday.

Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo welcomes all delegates from Cebu, Negros Oriental, Bohol and Siquijor with an express optimism that Dumaguete City will improve or maintain its 3rd Runner Up finish in last year’s edition of CVRAA held in Tagbilaran City.

City Schools Division Supt. Evangel Luminarias has already organized the different committees in coordination with several LGU offices and national agencies to meet and provide for the needs of the thousands of athletes and their officials.

Tight security will be provided to the venues, billeting quarters and other vital installations to ensure the safety of the athletes and other guests. More policemen will be deployed in the streets to increase police visibility and prevent any untoward incidents.

The athletes will compete in 26 sports events namely: Basketball, volleyball, archery, athletics, arnis, badminton, billiards, baseball, chess, boxing, chess, 3 on 3 basketball, football, futsal, sepak takraw, softball, swimming, tennis, table tennis, taekwondo, wresting, wushu, pencak silat, gymnastic, aero gymnastic, bocce, goal ball and dance sports.

Among the playing venues that will be utilized during the week long meet are:

Lamberto Macias Sports complex, aqua Center, Riverside Badminton Courts, RUSI Ball Field, the gymnasiums of COSCA and Foundation University, Don Bosco Ball field, Praxevilla and Silliman University tennis courts, Negros Oriental Convention Center, NORSU gym, SU ball field, Holy Cross High School, Cales Gym, DCHS Gym, Asian College gym, Perdices Coliseum and the covered courts of Motong, Tinago, Calindagan, Sibulan, Bagacay and Talay.
