Fourteen drug suspects, were arrested in 9 cit-ies and towns in just two days across the prov-ince in a series of buy bust operations. Two of those arrested were women.
The series of buy bust operations were conducted in the cities of Dumaguete and Tanjay as well as in the municipalities of Vallehermoso, Basay, Bacong, Ayungon, Zamboanguita, Manjuyod and Mabinay which netted a minimum of P 200, 000 worth of shabu based on the estimated street value. Multiplied nine times the street value could reach P1.8Million in two days operation !
Most of all, citizens-watch on government movements cautioned that all illegal drugs confiscated by the millions of pesos worth, nowadays should be regularly monitored, inspected and audited by an independent auditor otherwise drugs confiscated could be recycled by another set of illegal drug peddlers— ad infinitum as one analyst cautioined.
Also seized during the apprehensions were more than 70 pieces of heat sealed plastic sachets filled with suspected shabu granules, 6 firearms of different calibers, one unit motorcycle and other drug paraphernalia.
The police identified the suspects as Bernard Epanto, Rowel Palmain, Mark Anthony Belen, Guillermo Boriol, Virgil Darasin and Orlando Curbin of Dumaguete City; Geovanie Malusay of Vallehermoso, Ojito Aspacio of Ayungon, Glenn Gajeles Bagahansaol of Zamboanguita, Hernan Ganon Jr. of Manjuyod, Chris John Catalina of Sibulan and Joshwil Villaflores of Tanjay City. The two female suspects were Retchel Maraon Dagata of Mabinay and Jeanieve Avila of Basay.
The provincial command of the Philippine National Police has intensified the crackdown against the illegal drugs trade with surprisingly high number of arrests and nearly zero fatalities unlike in Metro Manila and Luzon areas.
