Achieving unity

BROTHER’S KEEPER

Unity is very important to Jesus. There is only one God, so the division of Christian ity into different denominations is a scandal. What is more scandalous is that it seems almost impossible to agree on many things. We all have a duty to pray for unity and to ensure that it can be achieved. This is difficult when it comes to moral issues that are perceived differently, but it needs to be done. Humility and surrender to the will of God is key to achieving unity.

May they all be one as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that the world may believe that you sent me, says the Lord.>>>>John 17:20-26

Paul sets the Sadducees and the Pharisees against each other with a carefully planned exposition of the doctrine of the resurrection. It is clear now that they persecute Paul for political reasons. They cannot agree about the error in his preaching because they themselves disagree. So much persecution is like this — a misunderstanding of what is being said or at times a deliberate misrepresentation of the content of the accused’s preaching.>>>>>Acts 22:30; 23:6-11
