Alleged suertres coordinator killed in Batinguel: PNP report

DUMAGUETE CITY – A local businessman and alleged ccoordinator was gunned down while he was driving his Isuzu DMax pickup in Purok Uno, Barangay Batinguel, Dumaguete City at around 2:00pm last July 16.

Shot dead was 55- year-old Arsenio Vios Macahis, a resident of barangay Bagacay, who sustained three gunshot wounds in the left side of his body. His companions in the vehicle, a woman and child whose identities have not yet been released to the public, were unharmed.

Recovered from the crime scene were four empty shells for Cal. 45. Pistol, one slug for cal. 45 pistol, , one high-cap magazine for cal. 45 pistol near the driver’s seat of the vehicle and a knife. It was not immediately known whether the victim was carrying a gun.

Initial investigations dismisclosed that the suspects went near the left side of the vehicle near the driver’s seat when the vehicle slowed down at the curve. The victim managed to drive five to ten meters away from the suspects before hitting the wall of a barber shop.

Authorities are looking into all possible angles of the shooting including the victim’s alleged involvement in the operation of swertres or lotto. Operations are now underway to catch the suspects of the shooting.
