Dumaguete celebrates the National Arts Month at the Rizal Boulevard through KISAW with BALAK , BALITAW UG UBAN PA SA TEMPURAHAN . It is part of the celebration to celebrate the Local Art and Culture in public places. Among the performances were Spoken Poetry By Yoyie and Faith Cuenca , Balitaw by a senior citizen from Mabinay, and Balak by Dr. Henry Sojor.
February is National Arts Month which started with the signing of Presidential Proclamation 683 back in 1991. Private and government agencies have been organizing events and activities about the arts, creativity and self expression to highlight the artistry of Filipinos. This is celebrated annually nationwide.
The National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCCA) has lined up a series of events nationwide in celebration of the seven arts: architecture and allied arts, cinema, dance, dramatic arts, literary arts, music and the visual arts.
This year, Dumaguete celebrates the National Arts Month at the Rizal Boulevard through KISAW with “BALAK, BALITAW UG UBAN PA SA TEMPURAHAN” held last Tuesday, February 27. “HUNI SA PANTAWAN” featuring Belltower Project Bonds was held last Wednesday, February 28 while “PASUNDAYAG” featuring Negros Oriental Cultural groups was held last Thursday, February 29.
