BETS Covenant signing won’t minimize cheats

Despite the traditional covenant signing tomorrow Monday, among as many candidates, which covenant is not binding at all,  (but mostly papogi mileage),  the tricks of the election trade are still expected to proliferate on May 13 polls especially because this is mostly a local election.

In order to achieve clean, honest, accurate, meaningful, orderly and peaceful elections (CHAMP), the Diocesan Electoral Board (DEB) has scheduled a convenant signing for all candidates in the locality.

DEB convenor Heruela said the covenant signing will be on Monday, February 11, the feast of the Birhen sa Lourdes, and on the eve of the start of the campaign for national elective positions.

A Unity Walk will start at 2:00 in the afternoon from the Redemptorist church grounds to end at the Quezon Park with a short activity, such as an interfaith prayer, messages, signing of the covenant, releasing of white doves and lighting of candles for peace to be capped with singing of Ang Bayan Kong Mahal.

The provincial command is preparing a comprehensive security plan during the activity since all the candidates are required to be present, including the deployment of a quick reaction force, route security and a mobile patrol, says PCIns Jul Muhamad Jamiri, chief of the election monitoring center of the provincial command.jrg
