Bieny prosperidad

CHURCH HISTORIAN

The caption in Spanish means welfare and progress. Here’s the continuation of the column piece last Sunday:

In the same spirit, the petitioners are writing to the Very Rev, Father Provincial of the Recollects to whose Corporation the administration of these parishes belong; likewise, they are submitting a respectful petition to the Supreme Authority of the Archipelago, pleading with him to give orders that his subordinates do not raise any obstacle, that they instead favor as far as it is on their part the coming of the friars to take charge of their Ministry, since this decision would be very beneficial to the towns and greatly redound to the welfare and progress of their inhabitants.

So that Churches are assured of necessary resources for a fitting worship, and Parish Priests procure the means of subsistence, the people seriously obligate themselves to contribute the same amount that the Spanish Government used to give, without any discount, for mass stipends, and to pay for parochial fees according to the tariff prevailing in this Diocese under the worthy management of Your Most Illustrious Excellency.
