Capitol condemns NPA Rebs

The Provincial Government thru Provincial Peace and Order Council has declared the CPP-NPA Communist Terrorists as persona non grata in Negros Oriental for carrying out killings against uniformed personnel and barangay officials.

Said resolution passed on March 12, 2019 was signed by Governor Roel Degamo and Provincial Director of the Department of Interior and Local Government Dennis Quinoñes, which detailed the alleged terroristic attacks of the communist rebels that included the killings and harassment of PNP, military and Civilian Armed Geographical Unit, active auxiliary members, suspected informants and barangay officials.

However, Senator Grace Poe, who recently visited Dumaguete City believes peace talks with the rebels should continue since it will deter the commission of more violence and reprisals.

The PPOC also condemned the CPP-NPA for other acts of violence that include the destruction and burning of multi-million worth of government and private properties.

Local officials lament that the continued attacks and violence stunts the socio-economic advancement of the province, instill fear in the public, disrupting the peace and turn away potential investors thus losing jobs and other opportunities.
