CCTV is ready for 2nd bidding

City Legal Officer Doram Dumalagan, who is also the Chairman of the CBAC, explains that the first bidding failed when no company submitted a bid for the lease of CCTVs at P 7 million per year in the next 10 years.

Hence, the CBAC is readying for a second bidding with optimism that suppliers are now encouraged of the prospects that once they win the bid for the lease of CCTV cameras, they can also competitively join other projects of the city administration with the advantage of having its infrastructure already in place such as fiber optics and cable network.

Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo has plans that after the installation of around 350 CCTVs in strategic locations of the city, it will now pursue the installation of traffic light system, public announcement and advertisements via LED billboards, among other projects that will utilize the same infrastructure supporting the CCTVs, except for some enhancements.

It was also learned that the Negros Oriental Electric Cooperative II has agreed to partly support the installation of CCTV cameras using their electric poles with the winning company merely providing an extension that will hold the unit in place instead of mounting a separate pole for each CCTV cameras, which would be costly.

But if the second bidding fails, the CBAC has the option to enter into negotiated procurement in which all suppliers all submit their best offer for consideration and approval.

Nevertheless, every prospective suppliers must undergo and follow the bidding process and the City Council retains the power to review all the contracts that will be made and entered into by Mayor Remollo for the CCTV project.
