DUMAGUETE CITY – The Diocese of Dumaguete, and the Diocesan Organization of Renewal Movements and Communities (DORMC) and the Diocesan Council of the Laity has expressed its vehement objection to legalize divorce in the Philippines.
House Bill 7303, otherwise known as an act instituting absolute divorce and dissolution of marriage in the Philippines, is not only against the Christian faith, uncessary but also devastating to Philippine Society.
The Diocesan Council of the Laity and DORMC headed by William Ablong noted member organizations of church-based organizations who attended a forum on marriage and the Divorce bill 7303 last Saturday at the 4th floor of Plaza Maria Luisa Suites Inn in Dumaguete.
They listened to resource persons like Atty. Raymond Jorge Mercado while Prof. Evelyn Macunana on the topic “studies on the effects of divorce in the experiences of the United States of America and the countries where divorce has been legalized. Bishop. Julito B. Cortes, D.D., bishop of the Diocese of Dumaguete and DORMC spiritual director Rev. Msgr. Julius Heruela also spoke at the forum.
