Dumaguete dads tour China cities

City officials, councillors, barangay captains with Mayor Remollo private tour to China for 5 days.

Businessmen from the People’s Republic of China have invited local officials from Dumaguete City to visit two major cities that are centers for trade, commerce and tourism as part of their free educational tour at no cost to the local or Philippine government.

The delegation from Dumaguete City left for China early Friday and is bound to be back in the country on Tuesday.

Twenty-seven of the city’s 30 barangay captains will be joining the trip headed by Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo along with Vice-Mayor Franklin Esmeña Jr., City Councilors Lilani Ramon, Michael Bandal, Manuel Arbon, Joe Kenneth Arbas, Liga ng mga Barangay President Dione Amores, Sangguniang Kabataan Federation Vice-President Renz Macion and other city officials joined the trip to two of China’s mega cities: Guangzhou, the Capital of Guangdong Province and Shenzen, the first Special Economic Zone of the country.

The visit reciprocates the earlier trip of some Chinese businessmen who are eyeing investments in Dumaguete City and Negros Oriental.

In a letter to Mayor Remollo the Chinese businessmen lauded Mayor Remollo for his hospitality in hosting during their visit last year and are determined to provide a warm reception in this reciprocal visit.

The Chinese investors believe that the Dumaguete City officials will appreciate and help promote cooperation in trade and commerce, cultural exchange, education, agriculture, sports tourism as well as learn the latest advances in information technology and infrastructure engineering.

It is also expected that the delegation from Dumaguete City will explore the possibility of forging sisterhood agreement between the two cities for mutual benefits.

Isabel Sagarbarria of Calindagan, Ramel Tayko of Mangnao, Roger Bohol of Taclobo, Gina Ablay of Bunao, Nelson Ablir of Poblacion 5, Harryson Gonzales of Poblacion 1 Tinago, Pedro Suniega of Poblacon 2, Anthony Ozoa of Poblacion 3, Peter Calumpang of Poblacion 4, Gerardo Balog of Poblacion 6, Reynaldo Caballes of Poblacion 7, Maelyne Rose Mariano of Poblacion 8, Crispin Patrimonio of Bajumpandan, Nerio Grapa of Bantayan, Frankie Credo of Batinguel, Jimmy Tabada of Cadawinonan, Virginia Alcancia of Camanjac, Gregorio Oira of Candau-ay, Jovencio Tan Jr. of Daro, Maximino Umbac Jr. of Junob, Angelita Ragay of Looc, Charlemagne Bantilan of Piapi, Ricardo Patula of Pulantubig, Randy Fausto of Tabuc-tubig, Lilia Batalan of Talay and former Junob Barangay Captain now Kagawad Isangani Bana.

The cost of the travel is charged to the Philippine government and all the officials have taken their leaves of absence and designated the authorized Officers-In-Charge for the entire duration of the trip.
