Dumaguete retailers use AUB PayMate for WeChat

Gaining its popularity for becoming one of the major take-off points in the is land of Negros, Dumaguete City prides itself with a number of hidden tourist attractions including the prominent Siliman University Campus, the conserved beauty of Manjuyod Sandbar and Lake Balanan, and one of the country’s highest peaks, Mt. Kanlaon.

With the increasing number of flights linking Dumaguete to various major airports in the country, the growth in tourist arrivals is expected to continuously rise. The Chinese now forms the second- largest inbound tourist group in the Philippines, following the Koreans.

The influx of Chinese tourists fuels growth in shopping, dining, lodging, hotel and airline bookings, tours and other tourism-related activities. Riding on the increasing arrivals of tourists from China, publicly listed Asia United Bank (AUB) has launched WeChat Pay in Dumaguete City, allowing Chinese tourists to conveniently and seamlessly make payments using their mobile wallets.

WeChat Pay is the biggest social and payment app in China with 930 million active users.
