DUMAGUETE CITY – The province of Negros Oriental is looking for ward to the establishment of a “ Malasakit Center ” at the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital (NOPH) as promised by Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Sec. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go during his visit to Dumaguete City and the province as guest during the Nutrifest 2018 activities over the weekend.
After Cebu, Tacloban, and Ilo-ilo, Sec. Go said the next Malasakit Center will be in Negros Oriental to provide for a one-stop-shop for patients to avail of the services for free from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), from PhilHealth, from the Department of Health (DOH), and from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) until the patient’s bill is settled.
SAP Go said the center will be provided with funds so patients can avail of free medicine reiterating the President’s order to make all available resources of government to help the poor.
Meanwhile, Gov. Roel Degamo welcomed the good news coming from Malacanañg including the promise of SAP Sec. Bong Go to deliver an ambulance for use by the people of Negros Oriental. He said the ambulance is a donation from a friend, just like the ambulance given to Tacloban.
When asked if he has plans for the Senate in 2019, Sec. Bong Go quickly answered in the negative but he was strongly endorsed by the people who greeted him during a market tour in Dumaguete City and during the Nutrifest program at the Mariano Perdices Memorial Coliseum, of which 15,000 to 30,000 were in attendance.
He enjoined Nutrifest participants coming from the barangays, the DEPED family, government workers, civil society organizations, non-government organizations, senior citizens, sangguniang kabataan members, and the student population in the city to refrain from indulging in illegal drugs saying “Mogamay ang inyong utok ana.”
President Rodrigo Duterte’s go-to guy also known as the pambansang photo bomber and selfie king as he is seen with the President always, told teachers not to worry about their salaries because after the last tranche of the salary standardization program in January 2019, they will find ways and means to continue with the increases. SAP Bong Go then referred the same to Cong. Karlo Nograles, chairman of the committee on appropriations in the House of Representatives who was also guest of the nutrifest activities.
However, SAP Sec. Bong Go had refused to issue categorical statements on the killings involving local chief executives in Luzon. “Dili ko authorized to speak in behalf of the government, but my personal assessment, lain-lain ang kaso og background sa nanghitabo. Kon adunay kinahanglan og security, naay police og NBI,” Sec. Bong Go said in an ambush interview with local newsmen.
