Mar affirms role of barangay health dads

MR. PALENGKE COMES TO TOWN—Wherever he goes, former Senator Mar Roxas is being remembered by people in virtually all public markets in the country as their champion and idol. Here Mar Roxas gets a similar familiar public response at the Dumaguete central market last Tuesday.

Former senator Mar Roxas Tuesday  affirmed  the leaders of Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) of Negros in  their crucial contribution to the health of a community.

Roxas  who visited five major public markets in Dumaguete and Negros Oriental,  believes that barangay health workers are the government’s physical arm in helping more people by giving free immunization, dispense maintenance medicines and check-ups.

Roxas further mentioned the need to formalize the employment status of barangay health workers:  “Kayo ay walang kaseguruhan sa posisyon.

Mar Roxas’ ended his visit with a photo session with his new-found supporters who were all charmed by his down-to-earth, but powerful demeanor.
