“Narcissistic”

UMALOHOKAN

It is election day on May 13, 2019. The election circus is in full swing. Every candidate has his own form of propaganda. The radio is full of political jingles and the poor electorate has to endure the incessant barrage of propaganda. There are so many candidates because they want to serve the people. Can they not serve the people without being elected to a public office?

There are many ways of helping the people especially the poor. But the real reason why the politicians are running for public office is because of the salary and the emoluments that go with the office. Basically these politicians are NARCISSISTIC. They love themselves and they live on the adulation of others. Narcissism is “having an excessive or erotic interest in oneself and ones physical appearance.” A narcissistic personality disorder is a mental condition in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for excessive attention and admiration, troubled relationships, and a lack of empathy for others. Narcissism is the pursuit of gratification for vanity and egoistic admiration of one’s idealized self image and attributes. The term originated from Greek Mythology, where the young Narcissus fell in love with his own image reflected in a pool of water.

People with narcissistic disorder is best described as a paradox. They may act superior and confident and are often fragile. The poor electorate have to invoke Divine Providence, or the Almighty God as they have implored in their 1935, 1979 and 1987 Constitution Preamble which implore Almighty God to enlighten the electorate to elect God fearing, honest candidates and men of integrity.

DO NOT VOTE FOR CANDIDATES ENDORSED BY CORRUPT OFFICIALS. PRAY FOR DIVINE GUIDANCE IN THIS ELECTION.
