National Helmet Law

Both the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and Provincial Highway Patrol Group (PHPG) took a firm stand to continue the implementation of the national helmet law despite its unpopularity.

With this, hundreds have already been arrested by the PHPG and LTO for non-wearing of prescribed helmets, which should be worn by the drivers and passengers including school children, when driving or onboard a motorcycle. Those apprehended for not wearing the standard protective motorcycle helmet shall be punished with a fine of Php1,500 for 1st offense; Php3,000, 2nd offense; Php5,000, 3rd offense; Php10,000 plus confiscation of driver’s license for 4th and succeeding offenses.
