Dumaguete City OIC chief of police Supt Gregorio Galsim has launched a program dubbed as “Tabang na, Texthang na,” or “Isumbong Mo Kay Hepe,” by texting the hotline 09989674487, or through the facebook page Dumaguete Pulis.
In a press briefing on Monday, Supt Galsim enjoins Dumaguetenos to support their police by simply reporting the presence of drug personalities in their respective areas, encouraged relatives and friends of suspected drug users and pushers to avail of government programs and or immediately surrender.
Galsim is giving free cellphone loads for information that yields positive results. Other hotlines of the police include 09179330023 and 09292006999.
Aside from implementing Patrol 101 on maximizing the deployment of PNP personnel in the streets, Galsim is also toying the idea of forming the “Counsel of Elders”.
It will be composed of retired police officers in Dumaguete City whom he believes has all the reasons to help the PNP leadership in its efforts to maintain and sustain the peace and tranquility in this part of the country.
Galsim was born in Dumaguete 52 years ago and has established residence in Bantayan. He was patrolman in early 1990s, finished bachelors of commerce and BS Criminology, took the exams and became a police lieutenant through lateral entry and then assigned with the highway patrol group in Negros Oriental.
The OIC chief of police said he will try to perform as expected of him in seeking the support of the local government unit to be able to execute the plans and programs of his office, including the campaign against illegal drugs.
Addressing the drug menace that has existed since 20 to 30 years ago is not possible in a span of three years, “dili ultima-ora maputol kini nag problema, nagkinahanglan kini og tumang suporta sa tibuok komunidad og sa local government unit,” Galsim pointed out.
On policemen seen in gambling joints, the OIC chief of police encouraged the public to text his personal number 09989674487 and promised to deal with them accordingly. Then OIC chief of police said he does not drink alcoholic beverages.jrg
