The governor of Negros Oriental wants the provincial board to appropriate for an additional 1,000 hospital beds for the provincial hospital to include that of the Central Block Building.

The governor issued the statement following receipt of an eye center worth P16 million being donated by the Fred Hallows Foundation of Australia today, Monday, June 3, 2019.

He is expected to convince members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to appropriate P100 million as an initial amount for the construction of an additional 1000-bed capacity building so all the patients can be accommodated during their executive-legislative agenda meeting scheduled in Boracay.

The amount can be taken from the 20 percent economic development fund, hopeful that the Department of Health (DOH) will have a counterpart of another P100 million or a total of P200 million as an initial phase.

Degamo has realized the Central Block building is not enough as he observed overflowing of patients every day, especially with the implementation of the zero balance payment and with his desire to improve the services by acquiring sophisticated equipment such as the MRI and the CT scan to be placed in one building.

The governor is optimistic ELA participants will focus and align themselves with the vision of his administration to uplift the quality of life of every Negrense by making strategies and interventions with approval of the new provincial board. The ELA is expected in July after the assumption of newly elected and re-elected provincial officials. jrg
