Two high value drug personalities, listed by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) were arrested Thursday, one through buy-bust operation and another through the service of a search warrant issued by the RTC judge.

Joint operatives from the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) headed by PSIns Don Richmon Conag and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) headed by Agent Grace Cruz confiscated more than P1.77 million worth of shabu from a suspected drug peddler identified as Jocelyn G. Villegas, 42, married, who was the subject of the search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Marie Rose Inocando-Paras early this morning.

Recovered by the operatives during the search included more or less 150 grams of shabu worth P1.77 million, cellular phones, assorted illegal drug paraphernalias, digital weighing scales in violation of Sections 11, 12 and 15 of Article II of RA 9165 otherwise known as the comprehensive dangerous drugs act of 2002.

PLANTED KONO

In an interview the suspect denied ownership of the confiscated items in spite the presence of village chief Lilia Batalan assisted by Kag. Lionel Richie Noay who chairs the committee on peace and order in the barangay, tanods and other barangay kagawads. Villegas accused the operatives of planting the evidences.

Batalan and Noay said they were surprised such a big quantity of shabu is being kept by a constituent of their barangay despite the fact that tanods are regularly patrolling the area. However, they received reports of motorcycles entering the place every now and then.

Investigations showed, Villegas’ younger sister just got out of jail due to drugs charges after availing of the plea bargaining provision, while her other brother is still detained at the city jail, also due to drug charges.
