PHCCI postpones chapter assemblies amid COVID-19

Officials from the Perpetual Help Community Cooperative Inc. (PHCCI) announced that conduct of chapter assemblies in their coverage areas are postponed indefinitely in compliance to national measures set to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

PHCCI Board of Directors President Danilo Cabahug said the directive covers “Dumaguete Area A” which is composed of registered members PHCCI Dumaguete Branch but are residing outside the boundaries of Dumaguete City and those registered members of Bayawan City and Siquijor Branches, “Dumaguete Area B” which is composed of registered members of Dumaguete Branch who are living within the boundaries of the city. The same directive also applied to PHCCI’s registered members in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, and Tanjay City, Negros Oriental. (By Roi Lomotan)

2 NegOr food MSMEs now globally certified

Two food manufacturing companies in Negros Oriental – NBF Homemade Food Products and Zigmund Enterprises – received international food safety certifications on Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) earlier in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.

Global food safety certifications open wider trade opportunities for micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) especially for export, said Engr. Joel Legaspi of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) here. Legaspi said the certifications were given after the guidance and evaluation by SIGNAsia and TUV-Nord Ltd. Philippines under the develoPPP.de Project, a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) program that aims to assist MSMEs with the improvement of food safety standards and auditing techniques.

DepEd aborts ASEAN Schools Games in Dgte

The Department of Education (DepEd) has al-located P158.8-M for the hosting of the 12th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Games in Dumaguete City.

The budget for ASEAN Games slated this November excludes the construction and improvement of sports venues. Based on the budget proposed for the hosting, the Dumaguete City Schools Division will receive financial assistance from DepEd in the amount of P157-M for the following expenses: hosting of Chef de Mission meetings, transportation, and board and lodgings.

The Regional Oversight Committee for the Jail Drug-Free Clearing Operation has declared and certified Dumaguete City District Jail-Female Dormitory as a Drug-Free Jail Facility.

The Regional Oversight Committee for the Jail Drug-Free Clearing Operation has declared and certified Dumaguete City District Jail-Female Dormitory as a Drug-Free Jail Facility. Jail Inspector Julia Sale, City Jail Warden, lauded the administration of Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo for their support and projects provided to the jail facility, which contributed to the increased security and preventing the proliferation of illegal drugs through various interventions.
