Five more people were killed in separate shootings in Negros Oriental before the week ended all the suspects to the cold blooded attacks were able to escape from police dragnet.
In Tanjay City, two persons were ambushed in Barangay Santa Cruz Viejo on Wednesday evening. City Chief-of-Police Supt. Frankie Jingle Lugo identified the victims as Ritchie Magat and a certain Nonoy, who were on board a Mitsubishi L200 pick-up. The suspect shot the vehicle multiple time hitting the victims causing their instantaneous deaths.
Almost at the same time, the Barangay Captain of Casalaan Siaton was gunned down by the suspects as he disembarked from a habal-habal to get on his own motorcycle. The victim was identified as Ronie Valiente, who just arrived at the bus terminal in Siaton from Dumaguete City.
Meanwhile, an aide of the former mayor of Vallehermoso was also shot by an unidentified suspect while on his way home with two neighbors.
Police identified the victim as Romeo Morales, who was an aide to former Mayor Joniper Villegas. Nevertheless, authorities believe that the shooting is not politically motivated as Morales is not known to be highly partisan. The suspect, who was hiding at a sugar cane field attacked the victim as the latter and his companions approached the bridge in Barangay Bagawines.
Finally, an alleged former Tokhang surrenderee was shot dead in Banilad Bacong while in possession of illegal drugs.
