Supporters optimistic of Lupad-Abante merger

City issues discussed at people’s assembly. Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo explains his master plan of the city and responded to the issues and concerns of the constituents during the recent Barangay Assembly in Calindagan conducted by Punong Barangay Ma.Isabel Sagarbarria and City Local Government Operations Officer Aquilina Eltanal. This semester’s nationwide barangay assembly was conducted with the theme, “Nagkakaisang komunidad tungo sa Mapayapa, Maunlad at Matiwasay na Barangay (A United Community for a Peaceful, Progressive, and Safe Barangay)!”

Amid some skepticism even among hitherto allies, Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo and 2nd District Cong. Manuel Sagarbarria are optimistic that their unity will last even after the elections on May 2019.

Both leaders are now focused on how to accelerate the implementation of the projects in line with the master plan that Remollo authored and Sagarbarria advocated in 1998.

Impartial observers foresee the switch of positions between Remollo and Sagarbarria when the opportune time comes.

Mayor Remollo is upbeat that since all the leaders are now united and have adopted the LUPAD vision for the city including Governor Roel Degamo, Vice-Governor Mark Macias and Congressman Manuel Chiquiting Sagarbarria, all the programs and projects being pursued at the moment and for the next three years will be completed for the benefit of all citizens, particularly the poor and the marginalized.

On Tuesday, after hearing mass, the team accompanied by their supporters including all the Punong Barangays of the city, took a short walk to the Commission on Elections to file their Certificates of Candidacy.

Reverend Father Thadeu Enrique N. Balongag, who celebrated the mass, invoked God’s blessings and wisdom, as Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, Vice-Mayor Franklin Esmeòa, Councilors Atty. Karissa Faye Tolentino Maxino, Lilani Ramon, Agustin Miguel Perdices, Atty. Joe Kenneth Arbas, Atty. Michael Bandal, Manuel Sagarbarria, Antonio J. Remollo, Atty. Edgar Lentorio Jr., Atty. Rosel Margarette Q. Erames and Nelson Patrimonio prepared to embark on a new journey to secure a fresg mandate from the people of Dumaguete City to finish the implementation of the programs, projects and initiatives undertaken by the present administration.

The LUPAD platform of government specifically endeavors to build a city grounded on the vision: Livable and cultured community; Urban Revitalization inclusive of all barangays; Professionalism in government service and good governance; Abundance of food, clothing, adequate shelter for every family and Devotion to God and dedication to country and the community.

For the first time in the history of Dumaguete City, all notable leaders from the barangays, Sangguniang Kabataan officials, Congressman, Mayor, Vice-Mayor and Councilors have coalesced to a common vision to build a safer, healthier, cleaner and prosperous city through participatory governance and inclusive growth.

Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo and Cong. Manuel Sagarbarria, have long shared the same passion to pursue the master plan for Dumaguete City way back in 1998. They rekindled not only their friendship and the shared commitment to work by forging alliances gained through trust and respect so that each leader, big and small, will contribute for the implementation and realization of the same vision.
