Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Remollo welcomes plans of two cooperatives in the city to engage in building big multi million peso tourist hotels , two of which is expected to rise in a period of two years.
These are the hotels of Dumaguete City Cathedral Credit Cooperative (DCCCO) and the Perpetual Help Credit Cooperative Inc. (PHCCI), two of the biggest and largest coops in the country today.
Remollo said these are welcome developments as another hotel and convention center is also expected to rise in Daro, fronting the provincial hospital.
The mayor said a growing need for hotel accommodation is seen in the years to come not just because of non-stop national and international sports competitions being held here but as one of the best retirement places in the world to retire.
Remollo, however, cautioned cooperatives in saying “basin og dili madahan sa kooperatiba, unya makaon kini sa mga infrastructura nga nahuna-hunaan niini.”
He cited the case of Banko Pilipino “nagapos sa real estate unya gikulang ang pundo aron ipahulam sa mga miembro,” forcing the bank to sell back their properties at a lower price.
