Two brand new garbage compactors acquired

Two (2) brand new garbage compactors recently acquired by the city government of Dumaguete are now servicing the city.

The units would help improve the efficiency in collecting garbage especially of the ongoing events as part of the Founder’s Day celebration of Silliman University and Sandurot Festival in September. He also confirmed that two more brand new garbage compactors will be purchased this year.

The blessing and inauguration of the two compactors are witnessed by Mayor Ipe Remollo (from left to right) Councilors Joe Kenneth Arbas, Agustin Miguel Perdices, Lionel Banogon, Estanislao Alviola, Manuel Arbon, Karissa Tolentino, Alan Gel Cordova, Lilani Ramon, Michael Bandal and Jose Victor Imbo.

Each compactor costs P 3, 495, 000.00 has a capacity of collecting trash equivalent to at least 10 garbage-filled ordinary dump trucks.

The city is currently in negotiations with the lot owners for the proposed sanitary landfill as part of the long term solution to manage the city’s garbage coupled with strict adherence to law on waste segregation.
