Amidst possible threats of a violent election on May 13, Vice President Leni Robredo virtually launched the opposition bandwagon in the province of Negros Oriental through a daylong fly-in-fly-out solo mission Thursday consisting of media blitz interviews and a whole day mission to ZAmboanguita. She capped the visit with a meeting with sectoral groups before she flew back to Manila.
In a radio chat with DYEM BAI RADIO, Vice President Leni also announced the eight senatorial bets from the oppositioin namely:
— Bam Aquino, Chel Diokno, Samira Gutoc, Florin Hilbay, Romulo Macalintal, Mar Roxas and Erin Tañada — are scheduled to hold a student dialogue at Camarines Sur Polytechnic College on Wednesday morning.
Vice President Leni Robredo urged candidates running for office this election to focus not only on dancing and singing during the campaign, but also on their platforms that will address pressing problems in the country.
While it has become common for candidates to sing and dance for their supporters in campaign sorties, VP Leni said the people also deserve to know where they stand on policies and issues affecting Filipinos.
Vice President Leni Robredo also visited the 21 beneficiaries of the cattle funded by the Office of the Vice President’s (OVP) Locally Funded Project budget through the Angat Buhay program. She also met with local government officials of Zamboanguita.
The cattles were turned over to the beneficiaries last 30 January 2019 at the Zamboanguita Municipal Hall. She engaged the beneficiaries with stories about their experiences under the program and listened to suggestions from them on how to improve the program.
In the afternoon, Vice President Leni Robredo participated in the Negros Oriental provincial planning session of the Ahon Laylayan Koalisyon represented by the 14 basic sectors:women, transport, labor, farmers, fisherfold, 4Ps, solo parents, PWD, cooperatives, formal and informal sectors, youth, senior citizens, and urban poor.
The planning session had its discussions aimed towards helping the various CSOs in attendance to formulate People’s agenda and activities for their respective sectors. The session will also serve as preparation for the upcoming provincial launch of Laylayan Koalisyon in Negros Oriental
Vice Press Robredo also turend over another two-classrom building to the Moises Bangay Alano Elementary school where children used to walk 12 kiolometers daily to reach their school.located at Sitio Kalanggaman bgy Mayabon, Zamboanguita.
Ribbon-cutting was officiated by . Jaime Gumizad, School Principal; Engr Geg Uymatiao, Local Representative of Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Incorporated (FFCCCII); Mayor Glenson Alanano;. Sitoy Panoy, President, Parent-Teachers Association.
In May 2017, Mr. Jeffrey Ng of Cathay Land, Inc. was looking for an Angat Buhay area in need of classrooms, the OVP proposed Kalanggaman Elementary School in Zamboanguita, Negros Oriental was one of the identified communities.
Through the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII), the Moises Bangay Alano Elementary School has been approved to be one of the several recipients of classrooms.
